Audit file check, $199
Send me your records before the auditor sees them. Within 2 business days you get a written list of anything missing or out of date, with the rule behind each item and the document that fixes it.
Online checkout opens soon. Email hello@firstyearcarrier.com and I'll reply within one business day.
What you get
- A check against all 16 automatic-fail violations in 49 CFR 385.321, the ones that fail you on the spot.
- A check of each audit area: drivers, hours of service, vehicles, insurance, and your accident register.
- A written gap list, most urgent first. Each item names the rule, what's missing or expired, and the document that fixes it.
- The order to hand your records to the auditor, so the audit goes quickly.
- One free re-check of anything you fix within 14 days.
What it checks, and what it doesn't
I check that each record the audit asks for exists, is complete and is current: driver files, medical cards, testing program enrollment, hours-of-service records, inspection reports and insurance. Where something needs a judgment call, such as whether a past violation affects a driver, I flag it and tell you who can answer it.
It isn't legal advice, it isn't a guarantee you'll pass, and I don't file anything, attend your audit or deal with FMCSA for you.
Price
- $199 for carriers with 1 or 2 drivers.
- $49 for each additional driver.
How it works
- Order and tell me your USDOT number and audit date, if you have one.
- Send your records by email as PDFs or photos. Black out Social Security numbers, bank details and dates of birth first; I don't need them. Don't send individual drug test results.
- Get your report within 2 business days of receiving complete records.
I delete your records 30 days after I send the report, and I never share them.
Refunds
- Report late? Full refund, and you keep the report.
- Not useful? Ask within 7 days of getting the report and I'll refund you in full. No questions.
Who's checking
I'm Scott Mandrell, a software engineer. I built the free deadline lookup on this site, and I check every report myself against the federal rules, which I cite so you can verify them. I'm not a former FMCSA auditor and I don't pretend to be.

Common questions
Will this guarantee I pass?
No. The auditor decides, and nobody honest can promise a result. What you get is a careful check of your records against the published audit rules, so you can fix gaps before the auditor finds them.
Do you need my FMCSA PIN or login?
No, never. I don't log in to anything for you, file anything or contact FMCSA. You send copies of your records; I send back a report.
What if I haven't gotten my audit notice yet?
That's a good time to check, especially once you're 6 months in, when you have enough records to review and time to fix what's missing.
What about drug test results?
Don't send individual test results. Send your program or consortium enrollment, your policy, and the dates of each driver's pre-employment test and Clearinghouse query. That's enough to check the requirement without sharing anyone's results.
