Who runs this site
I'm Scott Mandrell, a software engineer in California. I built First Year Carrier to give new trucking companies a straight answer about their deadlines without the scare tactics.
Why this exists
When a new trucking company registers, its name, address and phone number become public, and the calls start within hours. Many come from companies dressed up to look like FMCSA, charging hundreds of dollars for filings you can do yourself. FMCSA keeps a whole page of fraud alerts about them.
The real requirements aren't secret. They're in FMCSA's public data and the federal rules. This site reads your public record and tells you which ones apply to you, in plain language, with the rule cited.
What I promise
- I'm independent. This site isn't part of FMCSA, USDOT or any government agency, and it isn't a law firm.
- I never call or text you first, and I'll never ask for your FMCSA PIN or Login.gov password.
- The deadline lookup is free and doesn't ask who you are.
- Prices are posted up front. The one thing I sell is the audit file check, $199, with a 7-day refund.
How this site makes money
From the audit file check, and nothing else. I don't sell your information, take payments from anyone to recommend them, or run ads.
